Review and Renew

Review and Renew
Life is a circle.  It is a process of reviewing and renewing.  I was reminded this past week of how important it is to relook at events and people in our life from a new perspective in order to gain further understanding.  There is talk recently about being in the Now, which is certainly beneficial and important.  Yet, I find that we must readdress past issues to shed new light on them so that they can bless them and move forward.  In order to be in the Now the past needs to be redefined.   For this reason I share this story.

Over fifty years ago my brother was adopted.  He was three years older than me.  As a high energy boy he was constantly unsettled.  Difficulties with stillness and focus caused him challenges in school.  I knew him as the brother who both loved me and tortured me.  One minute he was a kind sensitive brother.  The next moment a devious little boy, pouring a pitcher of water over my head or throwing shoes at me to wake me in the morning.  As he grew older the antics increased.  He ended up in jail due to an addiction.  Shortly after that he died at the young age of twenty.

Telling you this today is not to focus on the negative but to uplift the life of my brother and release my past perspective of him and his life.  For years while he was on the Earth and even after his death the only memories I have are from the last years of his life and the “tragedy” of his death.  My parents wished to move on from these events.  Years have passed, yet his memory is stagnant in a dark place.  To relinquish the judgment and lack of understanding will aid in healing me and on a higher level the world.

He recently contacted me through an intuitive and specifically asked me to reconsider his life from a new vantage point.  He chose to leave.  He was a highly sensitive being trying to live in a three dimensional body during a time when this experience was difficult.  For his soul’s journey he needed to “experience” the life he did so he could further his growth.  Not only for him, but for me personally, he decided it was best to exit at that time, for my expansion.  His ultimate goal was/is to shed Light on the effects of a third dimensional world on highly sensitive kids.

Today, as I write my two highly sensitive daughters sleep upstairs.  As reported, many children today are coming in at very high energy levels.  These children are extra sensitive to the environmental conditions we live in today.  It is critical that they spend time in nature, have moments to the just “breathe” and “release” and be in a quiet space to regain their energy so they can renew.  Teaching them tools to exist in this space is our job.

Seeing my brother’s life in a new Light has lifted the cloud of darkness.  I now focus on the happy moments of our childhood together, whether it is trips to Florida, camping or attending hockey games.  Understanding my brother’s true mission reminds me that what we see on this Earth is but a reflection of our inner world and can alter in a moment upon our desire to change it.  Spend time reviewing your life, especially the darker corners and see if Light can shine on them and renew you.

Power-Less

Power-Less

Overnight after a fierce wind storm we lost power.  We woke up to the lack of electricity, water, refrigeration, flushable toilets, phone, and internet service.  At first the new state of being was exciting and fun.  The kids loved having flash lights to use while dressing.  We searched for half empty water bottles to brush our teeth.  I traveled to Grammie’s to complete the laundry.  Yet, as the day continued we began to feel powerless.  We were ready to have our source of power reinstated.

After reflecting on our environment it reminded me how powerless we can feel without “electricity”, our Source of Power or God.  Without Source we can no longer drink for refreshment and cleansing.  Instead of fresh water, in the morning I drank a kid’s juice box.  It gave me a boost of energy, but it was false energy from sugar.  I missed not only the fresh drinking water, but also the water to wash away any residue on my face and body.  Without Creator supplying me the “electricity” for washing I was unable to release the unnecessary debris from myself.

Also, without Source energy, nourishment became a problem.  All the fresh, healthy nutritious food was in my refrigerator.  It was close by.  I could touch the doors, but I was unable to open it.  I knew it was there, yet without the source of energy supply I was helpless, knowing that if I dared open it and partake in a bit of healthy fresh food I may lose my entire stock.  With power from Source I am able to ingest nutrient rich and life giving sustenance without worry of running short or empty.

Another luxury of the Western world that we take for granted is a flushable toilet.  As we release aspects of our lives that no longer serve us the excess needs to be “flushed” away.  It is one thing to discharge a thought, idea, action or person from our life, but sometimes we need to actually remove it.  The drive from Source can help us accomplish this often unpleasant task.  This gives us back our power.
Living without a home phone or internet is no longer as detrimental to staying connected now that we have Smart phones and wireless connections, but it can prove to be a challenge.  We now rely on our phones and tablets to stay connected to our friends, family, school and the world throughout the day.  We often feel lost and alone without this valued linking.  Yet, within us we have the ability to be united to Source energy and stay powerful without any device or equipment.  We can tap into this “electricity” simple by will or intent.  By being in a quiet space, perhaps lighting a candle or listening to calming music while breathing deeply brings us back to this power.  Suddenly and often effortlessly we are connected.  We are powerful.

As the strong winds blow into your life pushing you out of your comfort zone, remember your internal power Source.  As you are uprooted like a tree or as branches break off during a storm remind yourself of the eternal power source that lies within you. You always have access to it.   It can assist you with cleansing, sustaining, eliminating and connecting.  Taping into this source of energy you’ll never need to feel powerless again.

Clear the Space

Clear the Space

This morning started with a drum beat, “the go away beat” or as I like to call it the “clear the space” beat.  After getting the kids to school I sat down for meditation.  Beginning meditation today with my self-made buffalo drum; top, bottom, middle, top, bottom, middle, top, bottom, middle I tapped with my drum stick.  This drum beat is used to “clear the space”.  Clearing the  energies or space in your  home, your mind and/or your life and preparing it for the sacred seems to be a theme that resonates with us these days whether we have awareness of it or not.

Fall is the perfect time to “clear the space”.  October is a nesting month.  As we transition from outside to inside, from light to dark we prepare our space.  As the sacred season awaits us in the coming month it is necessary to not only release that which no longer serves us but to make room for that which is to come, the sacred.  Over the last few weeks I have been clearing clutter from my office, closets and pantry.  I love the process of reviewing the necessity of things and then determining whether they should stay in my life.  Some people might find this tedious, but for me, it is cathartic.  Driving to the Goodwill and letting go is such a feeling of freedom.  Clearing the space in my home provides openness for new sacred things to enter or for energy to flow freer in a sacred environment.

Not only does my physical home get cramped, but my mind is often cluttered with thoughts.  This week I have a head cold.  Normally I do not succumb to colds and if I do they are very slight.  But this cold is intense, is has “stuffed me up” and “I can’t breathe”.  This outer manifestation of a “cold” is a reflection of my inner world.  I am stuffed up with ideas.  I can’t breathe my head is full of thoughts.  For me, I need to release the overload through writing.  Others may need to express themselves through art, music, sport or nature for example.  Either way the space must be cleared so the sacredness of health can come forward.

Lastly, not only is my home and my mind overfilled, but my schedule is as well.  Life with two young girls and busy school and after school activities can be overwhelming. This fall on a conscious level I am reviewing my/our commitments to see which ones truly align with my heart and our purpose as a family.  Balance through rest and relaxation need to be a part of the plan.  The amount of time running from place to place engaged in outside agendas can be tiring and not always necessary. Consciously, we must choose to “clear the space” and allow for the sacredness of free, creative and restful time.

Begin today, to look for areas of your life where you can clear the space and allow the sacredness of life to shine through.  Whether it is actual items in your home, your “monkey mind” that never stops or actions that never end, now is the time to release, to “clear the space” and allow the sacredness of life to be present not only during the upcoming sacred season but from now on.  Once the “go away” drum beat is finished (only your hearts knows when) the “come to me” drum beat is next where the magic truly happens.

Keep beating your drum and breathe freely.

Power of Connection

The Power of Connection

“Mitakoye Oyasin” is a Lakota phrase that means we are all related.  The award winning Native American Flutist, Douglas Blue Feather spoke on this subject last night at an event I attended.  To be “all related” means every two legged sentient being and every aspect of creation; stone, plant, winged, finned and four legged.  We are all one.  We are all connected.

Almost a year ago my daughter, who is eight decided she wanted to play the piano.  After contacting my friend who plays the piano brilliantly we set up a time for lessons.  During my daughter’s lesson I noticed a Native American Flute on her table.  When I asked her about it she mentioned it was from a friend of hers that is a flutist.  The first connection began. The man she mentioned had recently met the president of the
Gathering Thunder Foundation (GTF) with which I have a connection.

Soon afterwards I contacted Douglas Blue Feather regarding a possible flute workshop and fundraising opportunity for GTF.  Here we connected for the first time.  The events were successful as people came together for learning, community and inspiration.  More connections transpired.  After another fruitful weekend we learned that Douglas is connected to the Lakota Nation similar to GTF.  Douglas works with Chief Golden Light Eagle who is from the Nakota Ihunktowan Band of South Dakota and has ties to 11-11 similar to a spiritual organization with which I have a connection.

The connections continue to happen, one after another.  Where will it go?  Where will it end?  The connection is ever expanding.  What started as a single act, a single question has rippled and touched an unknown number of lives. As the connection grows, the power of the connection grows with it, bringing more and more people into the sacred circle.  Think about your connections.  Ask questions, find common ground and see where spirit leads.  The adventure is in the journey through the power of connections.
